I've been living and working in Hong Kong since 2016 as an SEO Professional.

Sure, we’re seeing an exodus of Hongkongers.

Residents are leaving because of the city’s 2019 political upheaval and ongoing pandemic restrictions.

Over 94,000 Hong Kong residents have left the city via Hong Kong International Airport in 2022 alone, according to immigration data.

That might seem like a smallish number, considering that Hong Kong has a population of over 7 million; but the issue is that it’s the “quality” of the person leaving. I don’t mean that in any derogatory way, rather that there is a trend I’m seeing of professional folk leaving – and that’s an issue for obvious reasons.

Is This An Issue?

Yes – in the short and mid-term, but probably not in the long term.
