2,600-Foot Covered Escalator in Hong Kong: Commuting Made Easier

The covered escalator system in Hong Kong, which is 2,600 feet in length, is the longest outdoor covered escalator system anywhere in the world. In 1993, it was constructed so that residents could more easily commute up and down the city's many steep slopes. The escalator has a total of 33 stops and is operational from 6 am until 10 pm daily.

It is believed that 90,000 people make use of it on a daily basis.
