Global Rich Travel to US for Birth Tourism

Birth tourism is the practise of travelling to a country that provides birthright citizenship in order to give birth there. This is especially widespread among inhabitants of wealthy countries like Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Nigeria.Since the establishment of the Constitution in 1787, the United States has granted birthright citizenship.

This programme was intended to entice settlers to the new country. Birthright citizenship was not frequently used or known about in the early years of the United States. However, as the country grew and became more diverse, birthright citizenship became a more appealing choice for people looking to enter.

Birth tourism became more popular in the early 2000s, when the global economy slowed and the expense of living in the United States climbed. This was especially noticeable in China, where the number of Chinese nationals born in the United States more than doubled between 2000 and 2008.The rise in birth tourism has caused some friction between the United States and the countries where it is most common.

The Chinese government issued a report in 2012 criticising the United States for luring Chinese citizens to give birth in the country. According to the research, birth tourism is a kind of economic immigration, and children of Chinese nationals born in the United States have an unfair advantage over other Chinese citizens in terms of access to education and jobs.Despite the criticism, birth tourism continues to be a popular option for people looking to relocate to the United States.

Some have called the practise unjust and exploitative, but many consider it as a way to provide a better life for their children.
