Bruce Lee was born on November 27, 1940, in San Francisco to Chinese parents. Lee Hoi-chuen, his father, was a Cantonese opera star, and Grace Ho, his mother, was a cinema actress. Bruce's parents returned to Hong Kong when he was three months old.

Bruce made his film debut as a baby in the 1941 film Golden Gate Girl. He began official martial arts training at the age of six, under the tutelage of Master Yip Man.Bruce's film career took off when he was 18 years old.
