Bruce Lee: American-Born, Hong Kong Heritage

Bruce Lee was born on November 27, 1940, in San Francisco, California, to Hong Kong parents. Lee Hoi-chuen, his father, was a Cantonese opera star, and Grace Ho, his mother, was a Chinese actress and singer. Bruce's parents were not Chinese, but they had Chinese ancestors.When Bruce was three months old, his family returned to Hong Kong.

He grew up in Hong Kong and was introduced to martial arts at a young age. He began Wing Chun training when he was six years old.Bruce returned to the United States to pursue college in 1959.

He attended the University of Washington and majored in acting and in Seattle, he also began teaching martial arts.In 1963, Bruce returned to Hong Kong to seek a career as an actor.

He starred in a number of films, including The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972). In addition, he established his own martial arts school, the Jun Fan Martial Arts Institute.Bruce Lee died on July 20, 1973, at the age of 32, in Hong Kong.

Cerebral edoema was the cause of death.

Bruce Lee's legacy lives on through his films, martial arts school, and the countless people he influenced. He is regarded as one of the most important martial artists of all time, and his legacy lives on.
