Joseph Yam's Quick & Stealthy HK Coin Designs

According to the designer, Joseph Yam, coins were created in the early days of Hong Kong's mint in a basic scissors and paste operation that a primary school child would find easy. Time and money were saved by doing this. These coins, however, weren't always of the highest calibre and occasionally had mistakes.

The coins got better with time, and the patterns become more intricate. Coin design and production are still, nonetheless, a speedy and secretive process. This is so that the Hong Kong government won't have to invest excessive time or resources in the minting procedure.

This rapid and clandestine process led to the current designs of Hong Kong coins. They are still of high quality and well-liked by the general population, nonetheless.
