The Ting Kau Bridge in Hong Kong is the world's first major cable-stayed bridge with four separate spans. Tsing Yi Island and the New Territories are connected by a bridge that stretches across the Rambler Channel. Its length is 1,608 metres (5,280 feet), and it was finished in the year 1998.
At the time that it was finished being constructed, the primary span of the bridge was 400 metres (1,312 feet) in length, making it the second longest cable-stayed span in the whole world. The Ting Kau Bridge holds the distinction of being the world's first cable-stayed bridge to make use of stay cables arranged in a fan design.
