Jumping Suicides 2% US; 52% HK

In the United States, less than 2% of people who commit suicide do so by jumping. Nevertheless, the percentage is 52% in Hong Kong. This is most likely the result of Hong Kong's extremely high population density, which is linked to a greater prevalence of suicide in the world as a whole.

In addition, the practise of suicide has a long history in Hong Kong, reaching all the way back to the Ming Dynasty. In recent years, there has been a rise in the number of people in the city who have taken their own lives, particularly those who are still young.
