The Departed: Remake of Infernal Affairs Trilogy

The Departed is an American crime drama film that was released in 2006 and was written by William Monahan. Martin Scorsese directed the picture. It is a reimagining of the movie Infernal Affairs, which was released in Hong Kong in 2002.

In addition to the lead parts played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg, the film also has supporting performances from Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, Anthony Anderson, and Alec Baldwin.The events in the film take place in Boston at the beginning of the twenty first century. Colin Sullivan, played by Matt Damon, is recruited by Irish mob boss Frank Costello, played by Jack Nicholson, to act as a mole within the Massachusetts State Police.

After the internal affairs division of the police department begins their investigation of Costello, Sullivan is able to supply them with information that will assist them in their investigation. In the meantime, the police department commissions Billy Costigan, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, to pose as a member of Frank Costello's gang and infiltrate it.The two mice become entangled in a game of cat-and-mouse as they race against one another to determine the identity of the other before their own secret is uncovered.

The movie received positive reviews from critics and did well at the box office, earning more than $290 million worldwide. It garnered a total of five nominations for the Academy Awards, including those for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
