Li Ka-Shing (born 13 June 1928 in Chaozhou, Guangdong) is a Hong Kong business magnate, philanthropist, and investor. He is the chairman of CK Hutchison Holdings, which has holdings in many industries, including energy, transportation, retail, infrastructure, telecommunications, media, property development, and health care. Li is the second-richest man in Asia, with an estimated net worth of US$33.4 billion, and the world’s 23rd richest person as of March 2019.Li was born to an impoverished family of Hakka descent in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, China. His father died while he was young, forcing him to drop out of school in order to support his family. He began working in a watch strap manufacture when he was 12 years old.
